Please support our call for a National Strategy to address and reduce the trauma of sexual violence and its aftermath.
Too many women face added and preventable emotional and physical conditions, some life-threatening, because incidents of sexual violence and sexual harassment are mishandled, or the harm-abating principles of trauma-informed care were not followed.
Sometimes the harm occurs out of ignorance or lack of understanding about the nature of trauma, including neurobiological and medical sequelae. But too often it is intentionally inflicted by bad actors and enabling organizations, perpetuating a culture of fear and silence. We need to have zero tolerance for both. We need it now.
