The Zer0Now Campaign™
Champions of zero victim harm.
We bring the experienced voice of compassion and healing to victims around the world who reach out to us every day in the battle against the harms of sexual trauma, sexual harassment, institutional betrayal and the public health crisis of suicide.
Working for better health outcomes for victims of gender-based violence.
Last year we called for a national awareness & action strategy to address gender-based violence and sexual harassment, including health risks and neurobiological impacts. Immediately after the federal election, the Liberal government announced the creation of an action plan on gender-related health issues.
Calling out institutional betrayal.
Sexual violence and related abuses will never be ended until we end institutional betrayal and the culture of fear, silence and harm it produces. Institutional betrayal has come to recent prominence with the way top media broadcasters and other powerful organizations protected Harvey Weinstein and Jeffrey Epstein, and enabled their abuse. It is frequently present in the everyday workplace, too, and no less damaging to the lives of those it assaults.
Game-changing advocacy to engage lawmakers and public institutions in preventing avoidable harm.
We’ve proposed trauma-informed training for legislators and public officials. We were the first to call for sunshine laws that will allow women to measure the progress of #MeToo reforms. Our road map for addressing gender-based violence calls for the creation of a gender related anti-violence Commissioner who would report to Parliament.
We’re bringing new thinking to fighting the epidemic of suicide.
Every year 100,000 Canadians attempt to take their own lives. 11 die by suicide each day. We need to do a better job of getting help faster to those who need it. And we need a comprehensive suicide prevention strategy for the 21st century. Our 988 Campaign for Canada is a solid step in meeting both goals.
Ending Non-Disclosure Agreements.
Coming forward should never make things worse. But for too many victims, that’s been the outcome, especially when non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) force victims to remain silent. We call on all public institutions at every level of government, including the House of Commons, the Senate of Canada, all publicly funded hospitals, municipalities and universities, to end the practice of forced non-disclosure agreements and to release victims from existing agreements at their request.
